The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that begins at the base of the spine, passes through the buttocks and continues down the back of the thigh and into the lower leg. This nerve can become compressed or inflamed. If this occurs, pain may be felt along the length of the nerve down the back of the leg. This pain is referred to as *sciatica*.
Flat feet or Pes Planus is a common condition. In infants and toddlers, the longitudinal arch is not developed and flat feet are normal. The arch develops in childhood, and by adulthood, most people have developed normal arches.
