Initial Assessment and Massage
It's a Plan!
No matter what your treatment focus is, whether it be relaxation, athletic conditioning, pain relief, pregnancy, rehabilitation or injury recovery, an initial assessment is always required. It’s worth noting that every session has elements from the following list but the process is more detailed during a first visit.
Steps to Success
The process of information gathering which will lead to the best possible outcome may include some or all of the following:
- online and/or in-person health history and consent
- one in-person form
- detailed review of all written and verbal information
- postural assessment
- gait assessment
- range of motion testing
- orthopedic testing
- a discussion of your goals, expectations and previous health care experiences
All the above will help guide the hands-on portion of your visit. After your session, an individualized self-care plan will be agreed upon which may include some or all of the following:
- changes to day-to-day activities (workstation, exercise, sleep, etc)
- movement (active &/or passive)
- strenthening/conditioning
- self-massage/myofascial release
- stretching & breathwork
- hot/cold therapy
The specifics of this plan will depend on pain intensity, lifestyle choices, time constraints and treatment goals. It will then be emailed or texted to you for reference.
