Thai Massage

Expand!

This treatment uses deep, static and rhythmic pressures combined with assisted stretching and joint mobilization. The therapist uses palms, elbows, knees and feet with a comfortably clothed client on a floor mat* for the session. It is a deep, full-body massage progressing from the feet up, that draws on yoga, acupressure and rhythmic mobilizations to increase muscle flexibility, enhance joint range of motion and decrease overall stiffness.

Contraindications

Thai massage isn’t appropriate for everyone. However, for most people, there are modifications I can make to the techniques I use in order to provide a safe experience. Conditions that may require adjustments can include:

  • a history of dislocations
  • recent fractures/sprains/strains
  • degenerative disc disease
  • gout, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis
  • osteoporosis/osteopenia
  • ankylosing spondylitis/ spondylothisthesis

If you’re unsure whether thai massage is for you, please email me to discuss your situation before booking an appointment.

Attire

Although I’m happy to provide some loose fitting pants to anyone wanting to try Thai Massage, most patients are more comfortable in their own clothing. I suggest bringing or wearing clothing that is stretchy and comfortable and you can easily move in.

A Note on Scheduling

I offer a number of treatment options and I can easily switch from one modality to another but Thai massage is the exception to that. I need to disassemble my table and setup my floor mat for these sessions and I would need advance notice to do it efficiently.

*Covid Precautions: The floor mat is now encased in a vinyl cover that is disinfected between each patient.
